As there will be six Members of the European Parliament from Cyprus, each political party will need to get a higher share of 16.66% of the votes to secure one seat in Parliament in the first round of counting votes. For the second or third rounds, political parties/ coalitions/ tickets have to clear at least 1.8% of the votes.
Under EU law, all countries must use voting systems that ensure proportional representation, which means that the number of elected members from each party depends on the share of electoral votes obtained by the party.

Political parties or individual people who wish to stand for the elections should register with the national election authority by 3 May 2019. A complete list of all candidates will be published once the registration period has finished.
